FUNDAMENTS
Originally, Tai Chi is an inner martial art for hand-to-hand combat. A good illustration of Tai Chi is the symbol of Yin-Yang. The way of searching the balance between two opposing forces. For its part, Chi (Qi) refers to the energy. All the elements that composes the nature would be structured according to that energy. Every person, animal or plant has its own energy or Chi, which tends to be in balance. When this does not happen, health problems and illnesses are manifested.
HISTORY
Legend says about Tai Chi that several hundred years ago, a Taoist monk named Zhang Sang Feng who lived in the Wudang Mountains saw how a crane and a snake were fighting. The crane, although it tried to nail its beak in the snake didn’t succeed, since this always eluded it. Zhang saw how softness could overcome harshness, and how the idea of yielding to the enemy's strong force and hitting its weak part might have practical application in the martial arts.
